This month we’re featuring some tips for getting ready for the new year. Financial Preparation Review your annual budget from 2017, and note where you may need to make changes. Decide how much money to save and invest. Review your insurance coverages and determine whether anything needs to be changed and if you want to shop for a different insurance provider. Determine if there are major purchases you will want to make this year, costs for travel, or other cash outlays you will need to take into account. Gather together the paperwork you will need for taxes. Personal Preparation Take some time to write down the highlights of 2017, including your thoughts about your successes and failures. Think about, and jot down, some of the things you may want to accomplish in 2018. Reflect on how you have made personal improvements and how you can maintain them as you go forward. Make appointments for the eye doctor, dentist, and with your primary care physician for an annual check up. Add appointment reminders in your phone. Knowing your health needs are taken care of can give you peace of mind as you begin a new year. Physical Preparations Do an inventory of your apartment. Note any repairs that need to be made and notify maintenance about them. Change the batteries in smoke alarms (if necessary) and clocks. Check to be sure your first aid kit is complete, replenish as necessary. (Be sure to properly dispose of any outdated medications.) Create or replenish an emergency supply of water and food. Thanks for reading today’s post! We love to hear from members of our apartment community, so please feel free to leave comments on our blog posts.
